West Chicago Police Investigate Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

West Chicago, Illinois: October 10, 2008 - West Chicago Police and the West Chicago Fire Protection District responded to the report of a traffic crash on Illinois Route 64 (North Avenue), west of Conte Parkway at approximately 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2008.

The initial investigation revealed a Toyota Camry driven by Patrick Pavia, 53, of Bloomingdale, was stopped westbound on North Avenue while waiting to turn left into a private drive. The Toyota was struck from behind by a Chevrolet Express van driven by Thomas Henry, 54, of West Chicago. Both vehicles entered the eastbound lanes of North Avenue striking a Dodge Dakota driven by Joseph Murray, 47, of West Chicago, and a London Taxi, driven by Timothy Petrouski, 27, of Elgin.

Patrick Pavia was transported to Central DuPage Hospital by West Chicago Fire Protection paramedics and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Henry, Murray, Petrouski and a passenger in Petrouski's vehicle, were transported to Central DuPage Hospital by West Chicago and Carol Stream ambulances. At the time of this release, none of their injuries were considered life threatening.

As a result of the accident, North Avenue was closed between Powis Road and Illinois Route 59 for approximately five hours.

The accident is still under investigation. At this time, no charges have been filed.
