West Chicago’s 28th annual National Night Out is scheduled on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the West Chicago Police Station, 325 Spencer Street.
The location has been changed to accommodate a Police Station Open House. The event will include many activities such as law enforcement displays, various information booths and raffles. Colonial Ice Cream is donating ice cream and Jel Sert company is donating Mondo fruit drinks. Other businesses donating are Supermercado Tampico and Jewel/Osco. Eagle Academy will perform a martial arts demonstration.
Joining members of the West Chicago Police Department will be Mayor Ruben Pineda, Ward 1 Alderman Jim Beifuss, Ward 4 Alderman Melissa Birch-Ferguson, Ward 2 Alderman Heather Brown, Ward 4 Alderman Sandy Dimas, Ward 3 Alderman Mike Ferguson, Ward 7 Alderman Bonnie Gagliardi, Ward 6 Alderman George Garcia and Ward 3 Alderman Al Hallett.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts and to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations. More than 15,000 communities participate.
It is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
