The trails are great places to exercise, experience nature, make a "trail-cation" with the family, geocache, go horseback riding, train for a marathon, bird watch, or visit a restored prairie. Over 80% of DuPage County residents live within an eight minute bike ride (one mile) of our regional trail system. This trail system is also easily accessed by Metra train for those coming from Cook County. If you want to drive to a trail, there are parking lots close to trail heads and in most forest preserves.
In collaboration with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and the Division of Transportation, the Geographic Information Systems Division has created a trail mapping application that enables users to actively navigate the trail system. The application provides locations of trails, bikeways, restrooms, parking and much more. To learn more click here for their informational brochure Or, try out the app here!
