May 31, 2012 - This purpose of this newsletter is to inform you that the City of West Chicago has awarded the 2012 Street Resurfacing and Sidewalk Maintenance Program (Program) to Schroeder Asphalt Services, Inc. Based upon a schedule provided by the contractor, construction will begin during the week of Monday, June 25, 2012. Construction is scheduled to be completed by September 2012. The project locations and their associated construction activities are as follows:
The street resurfacing portion of the Program includes milling and resurfacing of over 3 miles of City streets with intermittent concrete sidewalk and curb and gutter replacement. Project locations include:
- Blair Street, Stimmel Street, and Pomeroy Street from Joliet Street to Illinois Route 59,
- Barber Street, Blakely Street, and Gates Street from Brown Street to Conde Street, and
- Portions of Smith Road and Klein Road.
The sidewalk maintenance portion of the Program consists of sidewalk and curb and gutter removal and replacement, as well as the installation of new sidewalk, curb ramps for sidewalks, and detectable warnings at the following locations:
- Blakely Street from Brown Street to Conde Street,
- Brown Street from Blakely Street to Bishop Street, and
- Wood Street from the West Chicago High School to Geneva Street.
All streets will remain open to traffic during construction.
Daytime on-street parking will not be allowed during construction, when "No Parking" signs are posted. Alternate daytime public parking will be available on adjacent streets. Please obey all other local parking restrictions and signing.
Driveway access may be periodically restricted during construction. Please note all construction activities are scheduled between 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturday. Traffic will be restricted during construction hours but all streets will be open to traffic at the end of each business day.
