After snowfall, it is unlawful to park or leave any vehicle on any portion of any public street or highway on which there is an accumulation of snow two (2) inches or greater in depth.
Parked cars are an obstacle to the snow plows. Additionally, plowing around parked cars leaves large areas of snow and ice on the roadway.
Officers of the West Chicago Police Department have the option of issuing a parking ticket to the owner of a vehicle left on a city street during a snow event, as well as having the vehicle towed, or both. All towing and storage costs will be the responsibility of the vehicle’s owner.
