Members of the West Chicago Police Department participated in the Coolest Event of the Year—the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge, an event in which law enforcement officials take a flying leap into the frigid waters of an Illinois lake to support Special Olympics Illinois athletes.
The weather this year on Sunday, March 5, 2017 was a bit more cooperative than past years, with milder outdoor temperatures and a water temperature of approximately 42 degrees in Yorkville’s Loon Lake, where the West Chicago team took the plunge.
Members of the team were Police Chief Michael Uplegger, team captain Robbi Peterson, Kyle Eichinger, Jonathan Jones, Lisa Eichinger, Taylor Peterson, Isabella Peterson, Jayden Peterson, Jake Fuller, Jasmine Konwent and Makenzie Relfsteck. They raised $2,340. Donations will be accepted online through Saturday, March 25, 2017 here.
