This newsletter is to inform you that the City of West Chicago will be painting approximately 340 fire hydrants during the months of November and December, weather permitting. The City has executed a contract with “Go Painters” to sandblast and remove the old paint, apply one coat of grey primer, and then apply two coats of yellow paint on each fire hydrant. Hydrant painting will mainly occur along Hawthorn Lane, within the St. Andrews Estates Subdivision, Willow Creek Subdivision, and Arbors Subdivision, with most painting occurring in areas south of Washington Street. The City of West Chicago Water Division will be monitoring the contractor’s progress and inspecting their work.
The contractor is expected to start fire hydrant painting on November 8, 2016 with working hours restricted to 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Fire hydrant painting is expected to be completed by December 10, 2016.
If you should have any questions regarding the fire hydrant painting, please contact:

For your safety and the safety of the workers, please obey all traffic control signs and flagging operations during the painting process. In addition, we respectfully request that you please do not parking within 30 feet of a fire hydrant during the months of November and December 2016 to allow adequate room for the contractor to access and paint the fire hydrants. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience during this project.
