A rain barrel is an easy way to collect a consistent supply of clean, fresh water for outdoor use to water plants, to wash your car, or to top a swimming pool, FREE. The Environmental Commission introduced a Rain Barrel Program last spring.

The barrels are repurposed, industrial-sized food containers that would otherwise be shredded and possibly sent to a landfill. The tops are screened for safety, with a spigot and overflow pre-installed on the barrels. Barrels hold 50-60 gallons and come in multiple colors. Prices have been reduced this year to as low as $58.50, so this is a great time to order one and reduce water bills by using this "green" water source whicle also helping to keep our rivers and streams clean.

Orders will be taken online by The Conservation Foundation from April 25 through May 25, 2013. Pickup will be on June 1, 2013 at the paper shredding event in the City Hall parking lot.
