Community theater fills a creative niche for residents and visitors on both sides of the curtain.
Growing and nurturing talent for the performing arts, community theater gives many aspiring actors their first taste of the stage, while more seasoned actors enjoy performing in the intimate setting of their own hometown amongst friends, family and neighbors.
It provides a wonderful entertainment option for those who prefer an evening of live theater close to home, an affordable ticket price, and a chance to enjoy the ancient art of storytelling through the performances of those who live in and around the immediate community.
The Gallery Theater of West Chicago is one such theater, small in size but large in providing a creative outlet for both actor and audience. It began in 2010 under the direction of Janet Gilleland, who continues to serve on the Board along with Artistic Director, Gail Cannata, Rich Nagel and Tom Tawney, all of West Chicago and Carolyn Larsen of Wheaton.
