This year’s selection of artwork for the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission’s annual multi-media art exhibit Artéculture which opens on Friday, May 3, 2019, is sure to please.
Outstanding works from eighteen artists will be hung in downtown West Chicago at two locations, Kindred Coffee Roasters located at 148 W. Washington Street and Gallery 200 located at 103 West Washington Street. Both venues are within walking distance of each other and will allow more artists to participate.
“Having a second location became necessary in order to accommodate the terrific response we received from artists throughout Chicagoland including Naperville, Wheaton, Downers Grove, and of course, West Chicago,” said Cultural Arts Commission Staff Liaison Rosemary Mackey.
As of Monday, April 29, 2019 almost 40 pieces in a wide variety of medium, technique, and style have been registered for the show. Commission members Buddy Plumlee, Sara Phalen and Lew Achenbach have been working behind the scenes to ready both venues for the month-long exhibit that runs through June 4, 2019.
An Opening Reception on Friday, May 3, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. will bring many of the artists together to celebrate their collective works, share their stories, and enjoy the creative energy that has found a solid base in downtown West Chicago.
