The City of West Chicago is proud to announce the winners of its annual business recognition program, the Brilliance in Business Awards. The coveted awards recognize businesses in five categories for innovation, creativity, sustainability, growth and community service. The following list outlines the specific award classification, the winning business and the reasons it was chosen for the honor:
Economic Development Award – Haggerty Ford, 330 Roosevelt Road: It was March of 2005 when Jerry Haggerty Sr., along with Bill and Jerry Haggerty Jr., acquired the Ford franchise in West Chicago at 601 Roosevelt Road. In November of 2009, during the onset of what turned out to be the most significant economic recession period in US history since the Great Depression, Haggerty Ford moved to 330 Roosevelt Road, the former site of a Chevrolet dealership for over 30 years. This gutsy move exemplified the faith Jerry Haggerty felt in the country’s resilience and in the visionary leadership of Ford’s management team. Since that time, Haggerty Ford has increased their workforce by 35% and currently employees a staff of 34. The company has generated well over $1M of sales tax revenue. It has paid nearly $150,000 to West Chicago’s School District 33, $40,000 to Community High School District 94, $15,000 to the City of West Chicago and $25,000 to the West Chicago Fire Protection District. Additionally, its taxes have supported the townships, parks, a college and other taxing bodies. Add to this the utility taxes and the company paid taxes and benefits for their employees, and the positive economic impact to the city is extraordinary.
Community Image Award – Synergy Builders, Inc., 850 Meadowview Crossing: The recent recognition that Synergy Builders, Inc. received from Best Companies Group and Angie’s List was most impressive and brought very positive attention not only to Synergy Builders, Inc., but also to West Chicago where it is headquartered. The recent ratings of this business’ consistently great customer service from independent source Angie’s List, which awarded it with its Super Service Award for areas ranging from price, professionalism to punctuality, is definitely noteworthy. Also, the ranking from Best Companies Group, which noted Synergy as a Best Place to Work in Illinois for companies with 15 – 99 employees, speaks volumes about Synergy Builders, Inc.’s corporate culture and its ability to attract a creative and talented employment pool to West Chicago.

Holmes has also developed a patented laminating process that preserves the detectable qualities of the tape used, as well as a process for integrating a steel clad casing to copper wire that increases tensile strength. Equally noteworthy is the compassionate and generous response Proline Safety Products, a division of ProPak Industries, has shown to communities all across the country in the face of natural disasters, through donations of vests, safety cones, safety gloves, suits and tapes. But, according to the Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce, which nominated this business for an award, the company’s generosity doesn’t stop there with tens of thousands of dollars being donated to causes and organizations including the Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, local elementary schools, middle schools and high schools, PADS, DuPage County Humane Society and more.
