It was a beautiful day for the West Chicago Elementary School District 33 13th Annual Wellness Walk. Teachers, administrators and students walked the talk of taking steps for health. Sporting their “Wellness Walk” shades, students enjoyed being out in the fresh air and sunny sky.
The event took place on Friday, April 30th at each school. Mayor Ruben Pineda was on hand to set an example as he walked with students and shared his experiences of being a former student at Turner School.
Also in attendance was Carly Smitherman, Program Administrator for Healthy West Chicago, a not-for-profit organization that works hard to ensure all residents of West Chicago will have access to an optimal state of health and wellness. Healthy West Chicago is also involved with the Fit City Challenge, which runs from April 15 through May 31, 2021.
