The DuPage County Board on Tuesday approved two resolutions that would provide funding to two local homeless shelters in response to their COVID-19 efforts.
The Board voted to provide $50,000 to DuPage Pads and $35,000 to the Hope House of the Catholic Charities Diocese of Joliet. The threat of COVID-19 caused DuPage Pads and Hope House to close their congregate sites for homeless clients and provide them with hotel rooms and food, resulting in additional expenses.
“Part of our mission is to promote a high quality of life for all DuPage County residents. We remain dedicated to protecting our County’s most vulnerable residents and take pride in being able to help these two distinguished organizations,” said County Board Chairman Dan Cronin.
Funding for these projects was already included in the County’s FY2020 budget, which included $1 million for the Human Services Grant Fund. DuPage County created this fund to partner with local agencies to provide human service programs to County residents.
