How do I start utility service? You can stop by City Hall (475 Main Street) or call (630) 293-2200 during normal business hours. We will need the following information: your full legal name, the service address, the billing address, date you take possession of the property, day and evening phone numbers, whether you own, lease or rent, and whether the use of the property will be for residential or commercial use.
How do I start garbage pickup? The City is contracted with Groot Industries ~ www.groot.com. Please call Groot directly at (847) 429-7370. You will be billed quarterly by Groot for the size of the tote you request. A drop box is available in the City Hall parking lot for check or money order payments to Groot. A senior rate is available for heads of households 65 years or older. Any trash that you are unable to fit into the tote can be placed into an additional 34 gallon can (maximum), but a refuse sticker needs to be affixed. Refuse stickers are available for sale at City Hall, area gasoline stations and grocery stores. If you have any unusual items for pickup, or your pickup was missed, contact Groot.

How do I initiate automatic utility payments? For automatic debit from your checking account, simply print out and complete an Authorization Agreement and then submit this form along with a canceled check to the Finance Department during normal business hours. Or, if you prefer, you can also pay your utility bills online via E-Pay. The State receives a service charge in proportion to the amount of your bill.
How do I drop my payment off during non-business hours? The City has a utility payment drop box for CITY UTILITY BILLS. If your payment is on time, you can drop it in the box located in the City Hall parking lot, 475 Main Street. Put your check or money order, and payment stub in the envelope provided so they do not get separated.
How do I make payment arrangements in the event of a “Past Due” Bill? If financial difficulties arise due to high water bills, unexpected expenses or unemployment, the City does offer payment arrangements. Late penalties, posting notices or interruption of water service can be avoided if payment arrangements are made prior to assessment of fees or shut off.
