This newsletter is to inform you that construction for the Brown and Pomeroy Street Infrastructure Improvements is tentatively scheduled to begin during the week of Monday, August 10, 2015. Initial staging of construction equipment and advance work may begin prior to this date. The project is tentatively scheduled to be completed by November 2015, according to the preliminary schedule.
The purpose of the project is to provide water main and sanitary sewer main extensions to serve the existing single family properties located along Pomeroy Street and Brown Street, west of Sherman Street. Additional improvements include pavement reconstruction and restoration of landscaping, driveways, and drainage ditches.
This project is funded by both the WCERT and the City. As part of the final cleanup of the former Kerr-McGee site, the West Chicago Environmental Response Trust (WCERT, the agent responsible for completing this project) will be installing a new water main in the right-of-way adjacent to your property, on Brown and Pomeroy Streets. As part of this Project, WCERT will, at its sole cost and expense, connect your home to the new water main and abandon your existing drinking water well. Since the street/right-of-way will be under construction, the City of West Chicago has requested that WCERT also install a sewer main simultaneously, at the City’s sole cost and expense.
All work will be scheduled between 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturday. No construction will occur on Sundays or holidays. Vehicle access will be restricted during construction hours, but all streets will be open to traffic at the end of each business day. Driveway access may also be periodically restricted. If driveway access is restricted, street parking will be made available on streets adjacent to the project.
Residential waste collection affected by the construction will be coordinated between WCERT and with the City’s waste collection contractor. Any changes to the current waste collection schedule will be made available to the public via newsletter and mailed to the residents.
Traffic control signs will be posted prior to and during construction notifying residents of the proposed construction and/or detour routes.
As the work progresses, WCERT and the City will update you on the project’s status. Please visit www.westchicago.org periodically for the latest construction news update. If you should have any questions regarding the Brown and Pomeroy Street Infrastructure Improvements, please contact:
