Healthy West Chicago (HWC), a health and wellness organization, is hosting its annual 5K Fun Run the weekend of August 21, 2021 and local businesses and organizations have stepped up support through sponsorships and prize donations, signaling that the wellbeing of the community is a priority for everyone.
Generous sponsors include Jacobs Engineering Group Haggerty Ford, the West Chicago Parks Foundation, Hawthorne’s Backyard, WeGo Together for Kids, the City of West Chicago, and Athletico West Chicago.
In addition to sponsorship, HWC received a number of prize donations for the runners. Vionic Shoes donated a $250 gift card, available only to those who pre-register. The Slice Spot donated three gift certificates. The West Chicago Parks Foundation donated four Turtle Splash passes. Dick Pond Athletics donated two $25 gift cards. West Chicago Park District donated a one-month fitness membership to the ARC Center. The Naperville Running Company donated four $20 gift cards.
In addition to local business support, local government is also getting involved. Mayor Ruben Pineda will participate in the 5K Fun Run as part of his Move with the Mayor (MWTM) campaign, an initiative of the National Forum of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention that encourages mayors throughout the United States to raise awareness for healthy habits in their communities.
