With the unusual early arrival of winter weather conditions, street sweeping and leaf collection services have been temporarily stopped pending warmer weather conditions. As the City’s street sweepers require the spraying of water during its operations, temperatures must be above freezing, approximately 35 degrees and rising, to sweep City streets. With warmer weather conditions forecasted for the final weeks of November, the City has intentions of resuming street sweeping and fall leaf pickup operations the week of November 18th, 2019.
While the City apologizes for leaves being plowed onto City parkways as a result of clearing the roads from snow during the most recent snow event, please realize that such was unavoidable. We ask that you please DO NOT rake or blow leaves into the street. The City offers free leaf pick up during the month of November through Groot, the City’s contracted refuse collector, and we ask for your assistance with collecting fallen leaves. Please rake your leaves, place them in brown lawn refuse bags, and set them in the parkway on the day of your normal garbage pickup. No stickers are required for collection of these leaf bags.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the City’s Public Works Department at (630) 293-2255.
