The GardenWorks Project, a West Chicago based nonprofit dedicated to fighting food insecurity, will be participating in West Chicago’s Blooming Fest this year. The organization will be raising funds for their spring season with a vegetable seedling sale on May 18, 2019 from 9am – 3pm in West Chicago in conjunction with Blooming Fest.
“We are proud to be based in West Chicago and part of this year’s Blooming Fest. Every spring, our organization gathers 200+ volunteers to build home vegetable gardens for food insecure families within western Chicagoland, and our spring seedling sale helps fund these gardens. We love to participate as a vendor at Blooming Fest to share our mission with our neighbors and celebrate gardening as a
community,” said Jeannie Iseman, Executive Director.
The GardenWorks Project’s spring seedling sale will feature over 30 different varieties of vegetable seedlings, and proceeds will support all spring gardens build for families facing food insecurity. The sale will be held at 103 W. Washington Street, at the home of Gallery 200, and pre-sale orders are currently available on the organization’s website at www.gardenworksproject.org/shop.
At Blooming Fest, West Chicago’s premier event, over 80 vendors will provide a selection of vegetable, annual, and perennial plants, garden accessories, yard art, jewelry, clothing, beauty products and more. Food, live entertainment, local art, and children’s activities make it an event not to be missed.
