It’s a Downtown Happening
Join Mayor Pineda in welcoming radio personality Scott Mackay from 95.9 The River to downtown West Chicago for a live remote from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday), May 20, 2016 to promote Blooming Fest, which takes place the next day, and the entire downtown.
The City Museum will extend its hours until 3:30 p.m. on Friday for those who come downtown to enjoy the remote broadcast, and Gallery 200 will be open too. It’s a great opportunity to support all the businesses in the downtown area.
The broadcast will take place at the outdoor patio of El Coco Loco Restaurant at 205 Main Street.
Those who wish to come out and be part of the fun, may bring a lawn chair as Galena Street will be closed for the Blooming Fest set-up.
Preparations for the big event on Saturday, May 21, 2016, Blooming Fest, will be underway at the location also. The West Chicago Garden Club Plant Sale tent will be filling up later in the day with a wide assortment of hearty plants from member gardens. Club President Dick Darrah will talk on air about some of the many reasonably priced varieties offered for sale the next day. (No pre-sales will be offered on Friday.)
Plus, entertainment by 4th Point will add to the enjoyment of the event. With honest lyrics and heartfelt performances, 4th Point is a Chicago-area, high-energy band made up of best friends who believe in what they do. Early on, the band started as a youth worship band at a local church’s weekly youth group. From this experience stemmed a new passion for the band to take their message beyond the walls of their own church. In 2011 the band began playing at local events. They soon started traveling the state and eventually expanded farther.
Over the past four years, 4th Point has gained an extensive array of performance experience, playing at various sizes and types of venues, including Christian festivals, town festivals, youth camps and retreats, church events, as well as the national stage. The band has shared the stage with national touring artists Big Daddy Weave, Citizen Way, Mikeschair, City Harbor, Lybecker and Head East. Additionally, 4th Point has performed at several Christian Festival Association (CFA) festivals including Big Ticket Festival (Gaylord, MI), Lifest (Oshkosh, WI) and Unity Christian Music Festival (Muskegon, MI). 4th Point is striving to spread their music, seeking new platforms to bring their message of hope and inspiration to audiences nationwide.
