An upcoming traffic enforcement campaign has been announced by the West Chicago Police Department. Officers will be out in force on Arbor Avenue on Friday April 24, 2015 for the annual Arbor Day on Arbor Avenue Traffic Safety initiative. Sergeant Spencer Kroning stated that “As we move away from a difficult winter into the warmer weather of spring, we want to get the message out to drive safely! We will be visibly out on patrol monitoring the highway traffic violations including (but not limited to)
- Seat Belt and child restraint violations
- Distracted driving
- Impaired driving
- Traffic signal violations
Last year on Arbor Day, more than 35 traffic citations and 12 written warnings were issued in an effort to combine enforcement with education. We have seen a decline in traffic fatalities in recent years and would love to see that trend continue.
