The West Chicago Community Center and the Western DuPage Chamber have joined forces to support local front line workers including nurses, doctors, hospital support staff, Fire Departments/Districts, police and caregivers of all kinds who assist others during the COVID-19 Pandemic, through the Here for You initiative.
With generous donations from the community, Chuck Strayve Landscaping, Buck Services, and Proline Safety Products, the West Chicago Community Center and the Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce delivered 30 meals from Hawthorne’s Backyard over 3 days to the Warrenville Fire Department and 55 cloth masks to the West Chicago Police Department for use by City employees when not at work.
The Community Center also coordinated the donation of sewing machines and material from Proline Safety Products (Darrell Holmes), and with support from Buck Services (Joe Buchholz) and the Chamber, relocated the equipment for production of masks and other garments or personal protective equipment. After hearing of the effort, Chuck Strayve Landscaping (Chuck Strayve) made a generous donation assist with the production of masks.
Two designs will be made, one that is a cup design and the other a pleated using Providence Medical Center’s design. To date, over 400 masks have been donated locally.
