West Chicago police officers responded to the 400 block of Colford Avenue for an unresponsive subject on Monday, April 25, 2016.
Upon arrival, officers observed signs of a heroin overdose and immediately began life-saving measures by administering two doses of Naloxone Hydrochloride, deploying an AED, and beginning CPR. The subject regained consciousness and West Chicago paramedics transported him to the hospital.
This result was possible due to all West Chicago officers having received CPR/AED certifications, as well as training on how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a heroin overdose, and the use of Naloxone Hydrochloride.
