On arrival, officers discovered an 83-year old female victim of an apparent dog bite. The woman’s small dog had also been attacked. Officer’s learned the victim had been walking her dog near her home on Trillium Trail when two larger dogs, both believed to be pit bulls, attacked the woman and her dog.
The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries to her hand and legs. She was transported to the hospital by West Chicago Fire Protection District personnel. The woman’s dog died as a result of the attack.
Both pit bulls were removed by their owner to a local animal hospital with assistance from DuPage County Animal Control. They will be quarantined at the hospital for a minimum of 10 days for observation. Any further determination regarding the disposition of the pit bulls will be made at a later time.
