About 'Portals of a Dream World
Help celebrate the “Year of the Alebrijes” in West Chicago, and join the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission in creating your very own dream portal.
The Commission is providing West Chicago community members with 18” grapevine wreaths along with some crafting materials so residents can create their own special portals. These portals can be created to resemble or revolve around alebrijes, or the theme of ‘Renewal’. All materials are free and available to City of West Chicago residents for free. Supplies are limited. A special green ribbon will be included with materials to tie all community member wreaths together.
These special portals will be used to lure the alebrijes back through the portal located at Gallery 200 so they can return to their own dream worlds. Participants are encouraged to share photos of their creations with the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission, so the magic created by them can be used to help lure the alebrijes back through the portal along with the ‘WeGo Alebrije’ sculpture being created.
This special event is being organized by the City of West Chicago's Cultural Arts Commission in conjunction with the City of West Chicago as part of the “Year of the Alebrijes” celebration happening in West Chicago.
Visit westchicago.org/alebrijes for more information about the “Year of the Alebrijes” and to view additional events and activities happening throughout the community.
