As a means of protecting the City’s public water supply system from contamination due to backsiphonage or backflow of contaminants or pollutants through residential or business water service connections, the City of West Chicago requires residents with irrigation systems to install and maintain an approved backflow prevention device. The purpose of the device is to prevent materials from entering the public water system. It must be tested annually by a licensed professional, at the homeowner’s expense, and documentation of such inspection must be provided to the City’s Public Works Department.
Documentation may be emailed as a PDF to the following email addresses: publicworks@westchicago.org or to jmunder@westchicago.org. Documentation may also be faxed to (630) 293-2971.
