Dear Water Customer/Property Owner/Tenant:

The City of West Chicago is currently experiencing a watermain break on Hawthorne Lane near the intersection of Pilsen Road, west of the CN/UP Railroad tracks. To repair said watermain break, the watermain system between the CN/UP Railroad tracks and Harvester Road will need to be shut down for several hours. To minimize the impacts to our customers within this section of roadway, the City has scheduled the watermain repair and shut down for Sunday, November 1, 2020, starting at 10:00 p.m., thru approximately 7:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020. You should plan for and anticipate that water will not be available during this time.
It is our intention, and efforts will be made, to have the repair completed and water service restored prior to 7:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020. However, unforeseen circumstances associated with the excavation and construction/repair could cause the water shut down to be longer than expected.
The City has notified the West Chicago Fire Protection District of the pending water system shut down, which may cause alarms to be activated associated with a fire suppression system.
In addition, please be advised that during the scheduled repair, Hawthorne Lane will be closed to all thru traffic. A roadway detour will be set up using Pilsen Road, Lee Road, and McQueen Road.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the City of West Chicago Public Works Department at (630) 293-2255, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. After hours, the City’s Public Works Department can be reached at (630) 768-8875 or thru Du-Comm by dialing #911.
In advance, we appreciate your understanding and patience while the repair is being completed.
Respectfully,
Robert E. Flatter, P.E.
Director of Public Works
