Construction Newsletter #2 – April 10, 2019
The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you that based upon a preliminary schedule provided by A. Lamp Concrete Contractors, construction is anticipated to start back up the week of Monday, April 8, 2019. The anticipated Project completion date is the week of June 3, 2019, weather permitting.

A general description of the Project’s remaining construction work activities is provided below:
- Weyrauch Street, between Lester Street and Brown Street: Installation of hot-mix asphalt (HMA) surface course, thermoplastic pavement markings, and landscape restoration.
- Weyrauch Street, between Brown Street and Blair Street: Pavement milling and resurfacing, HMA full-depth roadway patching, roadway reflective crack control treatment, thermoplastic pavement markings, and landscape restoration.
- Pomeroy Street and Stimmel Street, both between Wood Street and Joliet Street: Pavement milling and resurfacing, HMA full-depth roadway patching, roadway reflective crack control treatment, thermoplastic pavement markings, and landscape restoration.
- Lester Street and Hazel Street, both between Weyrauch Street and Joliet Street: Pavement milling and resurfacing, roadway reflective crack control treatment, thermoplastic pavement markings, and landscape restoration.
For the streets identified above, daytime on-street parking will not be allowed during construction. During construction activities, street access may be limited with driveway access periodically being restricted. If driveway access is restricted, street parking will be permitted for those residents affected by driveway construction. Please obey all other local parking restrictions and signage. Please notify the City’s Police Department via 911 or submit an on-line request at http://westchicago.org/overnight-parking/ if overnight street parking is required at your residence during construction.
If you have any privately-owned items within the City Right-of-Way (ROW) along the street noted above, including but not limited to, landscape items, buried dog fences, sprinkler systems, etc., please remove and/or clearly identify these items prior to the start of construction so the contractor is aware of their presence. The City’s ROW typically extends from the center of the roadway to one foot beyond the edge of City sidewalk (one foot past the sidewalk as you face towards a residential house). Please note that neither the City nor the contractors are responsible for any damage done to privately-owned items located within the City ROW.
Residential waste collection services affected by the construction will be coordinated between the Project Manager referenced below and Groot Industries, Inc. (the City’s waste collection contractor). Any changes to the current waste collection schedule will be made available to the public via newsletter and mailed to the residents.
Mail delivery service by the United States Postal Service (USPS) is not anticipated to be disrupted and the USPS will be informed about the upcoming construction. If you feel that your mail delivery service is disrupted, please contact the Project Manager referenced below.
Traffic control signs will be posted prior to and during construction notifying residents of the proposed construction and/or detour routes.
As the work progresses, the City will update you on the Project’s status. Please visit www.westchicago.org periodically for the latest construction news update. If you should have any questions regarding the Roadway and Water Main Rehabilitation Project (Pomeroy, Stimmel, Weyrauch, Lester, and Hazel), please contact:
