The City of West Chicago is aware of personal opinions being expressed by Alderman Heather Brown with respect to the decisions and policies of the District 33 Board of Education and District 33 administrators/staff on the education of students during a public health emergency.
The City wishes to make clear that the opinions expressed by Ms. Brown are hers and hers alone, and do not in any way purport to reflect the official policies, opinions or views of the West Chicago City Council or its administrators/staff.
The City recognizes the sole authority of the District 33 Board of Education and its administrators/staff for the oversight of operations within the District, and thanks its members for leading the District during the very challenging times of a pandemic.
The City also wants the public to be aware that the Facebook page “What’s Happening in Wego” is in no way affiliated with the City; rather, it is a private Facebook account for which the City has no editorial control or input.
The City does maintain its own social media channels for communication of official City messaging, with its stated Social Media Policy available online. Official channels include Facebook (City), Facebook (Police), Twitter, and Instagram, as well as an official City website.
There is also an online City of West Chicago Code of Conduct Policy for Elected Officials, which details the types of conduct prohibited, as well as information for the Complaint Procedure.
