The City of West Chicago’s Fremont Water Tower Rehabilitation Project will begin in April and continue through July 2024.
During this time, the City’s contractor, ERA Valdivia Contractors, Inc., and its subcontractors will be using several spaces in the adjacent parking lot for equipment storage and staging.
Residents and business owners in the area can anticipate noise during construction activities; however, access to business and the parking lot is scheduled to remain open with no disruptions in mail and package delivery, waste collection, and parking services being anticipated.
Construction activities are scheduled for Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

About the Fremont Water Tower Rehabilitation Project
The Fremont Street Water Tower is the City’s oldest water tower, constructed in 1952. It has a storage capacity of 250,000 gallons. It was last painted in 1990. The condition assessment confirmed it is overdue for paint application and safety upgrades. In September 2023, the City received $750,000.00 in funds through Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the 2024 Fremont Water Tower Rehabilitation Project (Project). The Project’s scope includes sandblasting, new interior coating, exterior coatings, landscaping improvements and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant safety systems including railings, ladders and fall protection.
