During their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 3, the Mayor of West Chicago, Ruben Pineda, and the City Council appointed John F. Banas as the Alderman of Ward 7 for a term ending on April 30, 2025.
Alderman Banas’s duties include adopting ordinances and resolutions, approving the City's annual budget, and enacting tax levies as part of the fourteen-member non-partisan City Council. Additionally, he will serve on two of the four Standing Committees of the City Council: the Development and Public Affairs Committees.
In 2024, Alderman Banas will mark his 8th year of public service to West Chicago. He has previously served as a Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals Commissioner and Chairman, as well as a Park District Commissioner.
Alderman Banas has a background in Information Technology and specializes in Project Management. When not working for the citizens of Ward 7, he pursues his interests in politics, creative writing, flying, sailing, and shooting sports. He also enjoys playing guitar with friends and family.
