Parking Locations

On-Street Parking

On-street parking is permitted throughout the City unless otherwise designated. No person shall park a vehicle on any street for a period of time longer than thirty (30) minutes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. without submitting an overnight parking request.

Please note, parking is prohibited on all streets after a two (2) inch snowfall until the street has been completely plowed curb-to-curb.

Overnight Parking

If a vehicle is to remain parked overnight between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., an Overnight Parking Request must be submitted online or by contacting the West Chicago Police Department at (630) 293-2222 prior to 2:00 a.m. to avoid a citation. Overnight parking requests are limited to three (3) requests within a thirty (30) day period, and cannot be granted for residents of multi-family buildings. Falsified or inaccurate information may lead to a citation.

Pay Parking Fines

Parking tickets may be paid through E-Pay, in person at City Hall, by mail or deposited in the overnight drop box in front of City Hall using the envelope provided with the ticket. In order to avoid penalties, please allow sufficient time for mailing payment. You may request a court hearing concerning the ticket. This request must be made at City Hall or by calling (630) 293-2200. Fines not paid by the due date are doubled.

Downtown Parking

On-Street Parking

On-street Parking is available throughout the downtown areas in two (2) hour increments from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except on Sundays and holidays at the following locations.

  • Main Street from Chicago Street to Washington Street
  • Galena Street from High Street to Main Street
  • Washington Street from Wood Street to Turner Court
  • Turner Court from Main Street to Washington Street

Please note, parking is prohibited on all streets after a two (2) inch snowfall until the street has been completely plowed curb-to-curb.

Public Parking Lots

In addition to on-street parking, the following parking lots offer free parking for visitors to the downtown. Please note, these areas may be affected during the City’s downtown events. Visit the City’s Special Events webpage for event dates and more information about parking during an event.

  • 103 W. Washington Street: Parking lots are located west and north of the 105 Main Street building.
  • 500 & 542 Main Street (METRA Station Parking Lots): There is no charge to park at Permit or Daily Commuter Lot locations beginning each weekend at 12:00 a.m. Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Free parking is also available on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
  • 157 W. Washington Street: Limited parking spaces are available at the 157 W. Washington Street parking lot in spaces that are not designated as permit-required parking.
  • Turner Court Parking Lot: Limited parking is available at the Turner Court Parking Lot located west of Turner Court and south of Washington Street in parking spaces that are not designated as permit-required parking.

Permit-Required Parking Areas

Parking permits can be obtained for several areas throughout West Chicago. The following parking permits are available through the City.

  • Metra Station Commuter Lot Parking Permit (508 Main Street & 542 Main Street)
  • West Chicago Community High School Parking Permit
  • 157 W. Washington Street Parking Permit
  • Turner Court Parking Permit

Special Event Parking

The City hosts several seasonal events in the downtown area. During these events, on-street parking and traffic patterns are impacted. Parking for each of these events is provided on the following dedicated special event page prior to the event.

  • Blooming Fest
  • Food Fest
  • Downtown Trick or Treat
  • Frosty Fest

Metra Commuter Lot Parking

There are three lots available for commuter parking. Both the Permit Parking Lot and two Daily Parking Lots are located at 500 Main Street and 542 Main Street Main Street in downtown West Chicago. Handicap parking is located in the Permit Lot, near the train depot. A permit must be obtained in order to park in this area. All permitted vehicles must display their permits from the inside rearview mirror of the vehicle so that the permit number and expiration date may be visible from the front of the vehicle.

Quarterly Permit Parking

Quarterly parking permits for the Metra Station may be purchased from the City of West Chicago on a quarterly, semi-annual or yearly basis. The quarterly parking permit fee is $105. Interested parties can apply for a permit online.

Daily Parking

Daily parking is $1.75 for a 24-hour period. Payment can be made with cash or a credit card at the pay-by-space machines located at the south end of the parking lot.

Multiple Day Parking

If a vehicle is planned to be parked longer than a 24-hour period, and advance payment for up to a maximum of 72 hours is required. Parking spaces numbered 274-295 are designated for multiple day parking.

Rent a Bicycle Locker
Bicycle lockers for rent are located within the Metra permit parking lot. The annual rental fee is $10.00, plus an additional one-time refundable key deposit fee of $10.00. Please call (630) 293-2200 for more information.

Metra Station Commuter Lot: Quarterly Parking Permit

Quarterly parking permits for the Metra Station may be purchased from the City of West Chicago on a quarterly, semi-annual or yearly basis. The quarterly parking permit fee is $105. If a permit is unavailable at the time of application, applicants will be added to a waitlist.

City staff will email a confirmation after a parking permit application has been reviewed. If approved, details of how to collect the permit will be provided.

West Chicago Community High School Parking Permit

Parking permits may be issued to residents residing on specific streets that experience higher traffic during regular school days at no cost. Parking on certain streets within the following Parking Permit Areas is restricted to permit holders from 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on school days.

City staff will email a confirmation after a parking permit application has been reviewed. If approved, details of how to collect the permit will be provided.

  • Church Street, the north side from Sherman Street to Wood Street.
  • Clara Street, the east side from the Burlington Northern tracks to Church Street.
  • George Street, the north side from Sherman Street to Wood Street.
  • Sherman Street, the west side from the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks to Church Street.
  • Sherman Street, the east side from Church Street to a point one hundred (100) feet north of the north right-of-way line of George Street.
  • Sherman Street, the east side from George Street to Ann Street.
  • Vine Street, the east side from Church Street to George Street.

Parking Permit Area B

  • Ann Street, the south side from Sherman Street to fifty (50) feet west of the E.J. & E. Railroad track.
  • Blair Street, the north side from E.J. & E. tracks to Sherman Street.
  • Blair Street, the south side from Joliet Street to Factory Street.
  • Brown Street, the south side from Joliet Street to Factory Street.
  • Factory Street, east side, between Ann Street and Brown Street.
  • Pomeroy Street, the south side from Joliet Street to Factory Street.
  • Sherman Street, the east side from Ann Street to Stimmel Street.
  • Stimmel Street, the north side from the E.J. & E. tracks to Sherman Street.
  • Stimmel Street, the south side from Joliet Street to Factory Street.
  • Weyrauch Street, the east side from Ann Street to Brown Street.
  • Wood Street, the east side from Ann Street to Brown Street.

Parking Permit Area C

  • Allen Avenue, the east side from Geneva Street to dead end south of Spencer Street.
  • Barber Street, the east side from Spencer Street to Brown Street.
  • Blair Street, the north side from Joliet Street to Blakely Street.
  • Blakely Street, the east side from Conde Street to Brown Street.
  • Brown Street, the north side from Joliet Street to Blakely Street.
  • Joliet Street, the west side from Conde Street to Stimmel Street.
  • Parker Avenue, the east side from Geneva Street to Spencer Street.
  • Pomeroy Street, the north side from Joliet Street to Blakely Street.
  • Stimmel Street, the north side from Joliet Street to Blakely Street.

157 W. Washington Street Parking Lot

Overnight parking permits may be issued to residents living within a quarter mile of the 157 W. Washington Street Parking Lot at a cost of $100.00 per year. A maximum of two (2) permits shall be issued per dwelling unit with a maximum of fifteen (15) parking permits issued.

City staff will email a confirmation after a parking permit application has been reviewed. If approved, details of how to pay for and collect the permit will be provided.

Residents located within a quarter mile of 157 W. Washington Street are able to park within the public lot at this location. These residences include the addresses located along the following roadways.

• York Avenue and McConnell Avenue from Fremont Street to Sophia Street
• Fremont Street, Arbor Avenue, and Sophia Street from E. York Avenue to E. Washington Street
• E. Geneva Street from Joliet Street to Parker Avenue
• W. Geneva Street from Wood Street to Joliet Street
• S. Aurora Street from Wood Street to W. Washington Street
• Wood Street from W. Geneva Street to W. Washington Street
• Church Street from Clara Street to Wood Street
• Clara Street from Church Street to W. Washington Street
• Harrison Street from Sherman Street to Clara Street

Turner Court Parking Lot

Overnight parking permits may be issued to residents and business owners living within the Turner Junction Historic District at no cost. For residents, a maximum of two (2) permits shall be issued per dwelling unit with a maximum of forty (40) total parking permits issued. For businesses, a maximum of five (5) spaces will be reserved for one (1) commercial vehicle (B-plate or lower) per applicant.
