A 54-year resident of West Chicago, Mayor Ruben Pineda’s record of public service began in 1998 when he was appointed to fill a vacant seat in West Chicago’s Third Ward. He has been Mayor since 2012 and has contributed to such initiatives as the community’s state-of-the-art water treatment facility, Educare, Habitat for Humanity, several annexations and the establishment of a Quiet Zone negotiated with the Canadian National Railroad. He and his wife Julie have been involved with the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for the past 12 years. Most recently, Mayor Pineda has been instrumental in successfully launching Healthy West Chicago, a citywide initiative to increase healthy eating and physical activity.
