Railroad Days Returns to West Chicago on June 26

Railroad Days returns to the City of West Chicago beginning Thursday, June 26 through Sunday, June 29 at Pioneer Park at 479 W. Forest Avenue. The large-scale community event is organized by the Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce and features a carnival, live music, activities for children, and a fireworks display sponsored by the City of West Chicago. Please note the following details about daily event activities.

  • Thursday, June 26
    • Carnival, Beer Garden, and Entertainment: 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, June 27
    • Carnival, Beer Garden, and Entertainment: 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 28
    • Carnival, Beer Garden, and Entertainment: 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
    • Fireworks: Dusk
  • Sunday, June 29
    • Carnival, Beer Garden, and Entertainment: 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Visitors attending West Chicago Railroad Days should also take note of the following streets that have restricted parking on both sides of the street from through 11 p.m. on Sunday, June 29.  Due to construction at some adjacent parking lots, see the map below for parking locations as well as shuttle details during the event.

June 16 City Council Meeting to be Live Streamed

The City Council meeting tonight (Monday, June 16) will be live streamed.  Users with a Zoom account can directly access the meeting online.

Railroad Crossing Closures on Church and Ann Streets Through June 20

The CN will be making repairs to the railroad crossing on Church Street starting at 9:00am, Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 13, weather permitting. The railroad tracks will be closed for the duration with a detour plan to direct traffic onto Lyman, Ann and Wood Streets.

Additionally, repairs to the railroad crossing on Ann Street will immediately follow with a schedule anticipated to begin at 9:00am, Monday, June 16 through Friday, June 20, weather permitting.  With the closure of the railroad tracks on Ann Street, the same detour route used for the closure of the Church Street tracks will be used with opposite directions.

Touch-A-Truck Returns on June 7

The City of West Chicago and the West Chicago Park District will be once again hosting West Chicago’s Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Reed-Keppler Park between ZONE250 and Wiggly Field.

This family-friendly event is held annually, and allows children of all ages to explore and experience a variety of large vehicles from fire engines to tow trucks to squad cars. Attendees will be encouraged to touch, climb, and ask questions about the different vehicles and how the machines help assist the community.

Please note that from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. the event is designated as a sensory-friendly time and no flashing lights or loud noises will take place between this time.
