The City of West Chicago will hold a Public Information Meeting on the proposed improvements to Nuclear Drive (Harvester Road to Dead-end) and Northwest Avenue (Nuclear Drive to Dead-end). The meeting will take place at the West Chicago Water Treatment Plant, 1400 W Hawthorne Lane, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
The project includes full-depth reconstruction and widening of the road, street light replacement, new sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, driveway replacements, fire hydrant relocation, and utility structure adjustments. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2025 and be completed by Fall 2025, pending State approval and weather.
While the project may cause short-term disruptions to local businesses and traffic, the City would like to understand how to minimize the impact on your operations. This project is funded through the Economic Development Program (EDP) grant and complies with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s public involvement policy.
Those with disabilities wishing to participate should contact the City by January 31, 2025, to arrange accommodations.
