The West Chicago City Museum is excited to present their 35th annual "Tales Tombstones Tell" event scheduled for Friday, October 4. Tours depart from the Oakwood Cemetery entrance at Garden Street, starting from 6:30 p.m. and then every 10 minutes until the last group departs at 7:30 p.m. While waiting to enter, attendees can enjoy music by Roger Kotecki.
This year’s event will celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the West Chicago community which was founded in 1849 due to the western expansion of railroads out of Chicago. Join the Museum on this walk through West Chicago’s oldest cemetery lit by lanterns and luminaries while hearing stories about families who helped shape our community, including the Hills, Martins, Benjamins, Klines, Gates, and Whittons.
"Tales Tombstones Tell" is free and appropriate for all ages. Donations are appreciated.
