The City of West Chicago is acting as Responsible Entity for Educare West DuPage to access grant funding under the Community Project Fund (CPF). These funds will be used to undertake a project known as Facility Enhanced Safety and Efficiency Upgrades Project for the purpose of installing safety and efficiency upgrades at the existing school facility, located at 851 Pearl Road in West Chicago, that meet Illinois Department of Children and Family Services regulations and requirements and to allow for lower overhead costs.
As part of the grant process, an Environmental Review (ER) has been prepared by Civil Environmental Consultants (CEC) to assess the project's impact. A 7-day public comment period is open through Wednesday, May 28, 2025, allowing residents to review and provide feedback on the Environmental Review. The review documents are available online and at City Hall for public inspection. Comments can be submitted online, or can be done in-person at City Hall.
*The grant recipient is Educare West DuPage, not the City of West Chicago.
On or about May 30, 2025, the City will authorize Educare to request HUD release the Community Project Funding necessary for the project. This request is contingent upon no objections being raised regarding the project's environmental review or the grant process. Any concerns about the project can be directed to HUD, with specific procedures outlined for formal objections.
